Butlers is a proud certified member of Origin Green, Ireland's national sustainability programme. Since beginning our Origin Green journey, we have significantly decreased our carbon emissions. We plan to continue reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions and achieve a 33% reduction by 2028.
In 2017, we completed the installation of the largest solar panel system on an industrial facility in the Republic of Ireland, located on the roof of our main factory. Today, this installation comprises 7000 sqm of solar panels and supplies 25% of our annual electricity requirements - equivalent to the energy needed to produce 5 million chocolate bars. Our solar power now saves 169 tonnes of CO2 each year.
We have carried out comprehensive water and tap audits to identify and eliminate unnecessary water waste. Between 2023 and 2024, we reduced our water consumption by 6.27 %. We are proud to have achieved zero waste to landfill in our factory, reflecting our strong commitment to sustainable waste management.
By 2027, 50% of our company vehicles will have moved to EV, by 2030, 100%.
